He also described being hit by beehive darts that went right through him. Here you can find out more about beehive ammunition which was used extensively in Vietnamn. Be sure to check out the links to photographs of the metal flechette which were the "beehive darts" that went through him. It puts his story in perspective that he really is blessed to be alive today!
